Start-up Toolkit 101 & 102: Understanding Legal Frameworks & Pivoting Strategies

Technology transfer between countries is one of the keys to address the climate challenges. Indonesia currently has various technological gaps in the energy, forestry and waste management sectors for climate mitigation and food security, coastal protection and water sector for climate adaptation.

Climate-tech is relatively new in Indonesia compared to the fintech or e-commerce fields. There is a longer pathway in commercialising a new technology, hence the government, private and international communities should support in filling this gap. Furthermore, climate-tech founders may need to explore pivoting strategies to make their business model leaner and more sustainable throughout the longer runway.

There are considerable regulatory frameworks that need to be addressed with the advancement of local and global initiatives. Setting a solid basic framework for these start-ups will ensure them to build stronger foundations especially when investors start to come in.

On 14 June 2023, we kick-off of our Startup Toolkit program for the climate tech founders which covered the following topics:

✅ Legal & Regulatory frameworks in Indonesia and dealing with Foreign venture investments

✅ Entrepreneurial and pivoting strategies

✅ Creating value strategies and differentiation

Special appreciation to our speakers Rudi Bachtiar Rifai from ARMA Law & Prof. Kenneth Goh, Ph.D from Singapore Management University. Stay tuned to see more collaboration and workshops for our climate tech founders!
