Launching Indonesia's 1st Climate Tech Hub

Updated: Sep 9, 2023

Daya Selaras Group and Ecoxyztem Venture Builder have joined forces to launch the 'Climate Tech Hub,' the first collaboration network centre for climate innovation in Indonesia. This launch event took place at ECO-S Coworking & Office Space Sahid Sudirman Residence, Jalan Jendral Sudirman, Jakarta. The event featured an introduction to the Climate-Tech Hub and networking opportunities for environmental and startup stakeholders. Titled "Speed Mixing for Sustainability (SMS)," participants from climate-tech startups, venture capital firms, multinational corporations, foreign embassy representatives, and Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) were encouraged to meet and explore collaboration possibilities.

In her address, Cynthia Wijaya, Chief Corporate Officer at Daya Selaras Group, stated that the objective of the Climate Tech Hub is to provide a platform for all climate-tech players, facilitating their work environment, collaboration networks, media support, and digital tools to enhance the productivity of ecopreneurs. The mission of the Climate Tech Hub is rooted in Sustainable Development Goal number 17, which emphasises "Partnerships for the Goals."

The Climate Tech Hub located within the ECO-S Coworking & Office Space comprises private office rooms, open coworking areas, meeting rooms, and plans for the future inclusion of a podcast studio for audio and video production related to the #BridgingEcopreneurs campaign. The total area of ECO-S is approximately 2,200 square metres, with around 300 square metres of outdoor space. With this collaboration in place, there will be more cross-institutional collaborative activities centred at this location.

Ecoxyztem, a venture builder in the climate-tech sector, demonstrates its commitment to driving climate innovation growth through the establishment of the Climate-Tech Hub as a meeting place for all forms of collaboration. "It has been our dream from the beginning to bring together all green startups, or as we commonly call them, ecopreneurs, and connect them with all stakeholders who can accelerate their business growth in Indonesia. The faster pace of environmental degradation will become impossible to address if we walk alone, which is why we feel very fortunate to meet and synergize with Daya Selaras Group, and together, we will continue to grow this Climate-Tech Hub to achieve the Enhanced National Determined Contribution (ENDC) target by 2030," said Bijaksana Junerosano, Co-Founder of Ecoxyztem.

With a network of 60 climate-tech startups throughout Indonesia established by Ecoxyztem, the collaboration with Daya Selaras Group is further enriched, particularly in terms of corporate connections and venture capital. Daya Selaras Group has been a long-time player in the recycling industry, primarily for waste paper raw materials, evolving into cardboard packaging, thus creating a circular value chain that benefits the environment. This adds significant value and experience to the partnership. The location of the Climate-Tech Hub in the heart of Jakarta is expected to truly serve as an epicentre for accelerating change and fostering interactions between startup innovation and major industry players in Indonesia. "We hope that with the support of activation programs, mentoring, and facility provisions, Climate Tech Hub will genuinely bridge more ecopreneurs" stated Cynthia Wijaya, Chief Corporate Officer at Daya Selaras Group.
