ASEAN Climate Tech Community Series 1 - Indonesia & Malaysia Collaboration

The ASEAN Climate Tech Community Series 1 was finally conducted online on July 18, 2023, by Ecoxyztem with ECO-S and Daya Selaras Group. The event brought together experts and professionals in the field of climate technology to discuss and address the pressing climate challenges faced by the ASEAN region, especially Indonesia and Malaysia. The event focused on three crucial climate tech verticals: waste management, clean energy, and food & agriculture technology. It aimed to explore innovative solutions and strategies to achieve both local and global targets in these areas.


With opening remarks by the CEO of Ecoxyztem, Jonathan Davy, the event featured a diverse lineup of renowned speakers, each specializing in different aspects of climate technology, namely:


• Amin Shafie, Partner at Asia Greentech Fund


• Melissa Yeoh, ESG Associate Director at MAVCAP Industries


• David S., Managing Director at ANGIN


• Melissa Ong, Group Chief Officer at Impact Circles


• Gani Lie, Head of Investment (Centauri & eMerge) at MDI Ventures


As it was hosted by the Head of Media and Communication at ECO-S Coworking & Office Space, Ani Wulansari, the participants and speakers were then divided into three breakout rooms according to the topics focused on the events.


The first breakout room focused on waste management and was moderated by Cynthia Handriani Wijaya, Chief Corporate Officer at Daya Selaras Group. The room was filled with more than half of the participants as it is the most anticipated topic. The participants of the room are mostly waste management startups in Indonesia and Malaysia with Melissa Yeoh as the speaker.


The second breakout room was filled with great energy that focused on clean energy moderated by Andreas Pandu Wirawan, Chief Commercial Officer at Ecoxyztem. The speaker in the room was Amin Shafie, who has a vision and belief in economic development in a green and sustainable manner. The clean energy segment of the event focused on renewable energy sources and technologies.


The last breakout room focused on food & agriculture technology and was moderated by Arya Putra Rizkya Akbar, Venture Scout & Corporate Innovation Manager at Ecoxyztem. This room was filled by most of the speakers, namely David Soukhasing, Melissa Ong, and Gani Lie. They examined innovative solutions for reducing food waste, enhancing food security, and promoting sustainable and resilient agricultural systems in the ASEAN region. The ASEAN Climate Tech Community Series 1 served as a platform for fostering dialogue and collaboration in the field of climate technology. It not only raised awareness about the pressing climate challenges but also highlighted the transformative potential of innovative solutions in waste management, clean energy, and food & agriculture technology.
